an SPN thought

There haven't been nearly enough cursed objects on the show. All I can think of are the rabbit's foot (and a bunch of items that had ghosts attached to them, but I don't really count those).

This brought to you by a long and creepy dream I had about a cursed manuscript that was quite good at avoiding attempts to destroy it or even get away from it. Other than the immediate application of gasoline and flame, which is not advisable in all circumstances, what would you do with that kind of persistence? (Hint: what you don't do is read the entire thing - or worse yet, try to copy it, because that will kill your copier - and then write your thesis on it. No.)

There were cursed objects in that silly episode with the ballet shoes.

But I agree. They really, really need to do something with the batcave beyond admiring the pretty people in the pretty set, and cursed manuscript would be a way to go. Or cursed book. And with all of those artifacts they have stored there, they have to have some very weird shit potential.

Oh, that's right. I forgot about the ballet shoes et al. (The tea kettle was awful. Apparently I have a thing about scalding.)

You would surely think.

We also had the ballet shoes et al--which I think were cursed objects tbh I mostly just remember that they were far more tangential to the plot of that episode than the preview let on.

I like the idea of this indestructible cursed manuscript, though. XD Kind of like the diary in Harry Potter!

I forgot about the ballet shoes! Yes, I believe they were cursed, too.

I don't know that part of Harry Potter; my viewing/reading of that canon has been pretty scattershot. But in my dream, the manuscript was pretty terrifying. :)

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets there's a cursed diary that can only be destroyed by basilisk poison, and if you write in it/claim ownership of it, it possesses you. I just caught the bit about the copy machine, ahahaha. You know, prior to any hunter discovering it, I can see various office people trying to copy it and writing off the copy machine's explosive demise as JUST THE COPIER BEING THE COPIER. Because they hardly need any motivation to fail as it is. XD

Stab it with a basilisk fang, of course. *g*

Word to this whole post. I would take a cursed object ep over more demon shenanigans any day.

Or we could combine them and have demon!Bela with more cursed objects...

I think that must be a Harry Potter reference. :)

INDEED. I liked him well enough in, uh, season 5? THREE YEARS AGO? XP

Yeah, I can't think of any beyond the episode with the ballet shoes. There was a cursed teakettle (shudder!) cursed porn, much to Dean's disappointment. I can't remember what else.

On Teen Wolf last week, they had an extremely spooky haunted motel. It was just the kind of place Sam and Dean would stay (they even had a flashback to a hunter in the 70s killing himself in one of the rooms after getting bitten by a werewolf). I thought that SPN could really have done more with haunted motels than they have.

The tea kettle was awful. I'd forgotten about the porn, though, since it was off-screen.

I do miss the SPN that was genuinely spooky and had atmosphere and stuff. Maybe it was rarely legit scary, but it was the right level of scary for me. Sigh.

Remember ages ago when I was trying to get you to write a cursed potato ricer? :D

Ah, but that was only ever going to be a haunted potato ricer. :D

(I've abandoned guilt over that one, btw. I figure werebears make up for it. :) )
