GIMME

Neil Gaiman's American Gods picked up by Starz for TV series adaptation: Cable network to develop adaptation of novel, with Bryan Fuller and Michael Green as showrunners, after HBO abandons project

People have been telling me how awesome Bryan Fuller is forEVER, and I have been wanting a good adaptation of American Gods for slightly longer than that.

EEEEE.

I saw that! I am tentatively interested. I wasn't super into the one Bryan Fuller show I've sampled, but if it was representative of his style at large, I think it would pair together with American Gods in very delightful ways.

I have friends telling me how completely gorgeous Hannibal is, and Hannibal will not ever be the show for me, so I am ecstatic that he's taking his touch to something I can watch.

Let the casting wank begin. :D

Oh, Bryan Fuller's last two shows have been visually stunning. I would expect absolute gorgeousness, and I think the hidden world of gods will jibe really well with dark-whimsical style, where the balance of dark to whimsy changes depending on the project.

(Though have you see Wonderfalls or Pushing Daisies? I'm sure we must've talked about this at some point...)

All of this just sounds very positive.

I haven't seen Wonderfalls or Pushing Daisies (although I've always meant to try the latter). I did like what I saw of Dead Like Me, though.

!!!!!!

Wonderfalls is on YouTube. Pushing Daisies used to be on Netflix and might still be. You should run not walk. They're both quick watches (1 season and 2 seasons respectively) and well worth it. I just want to babble names of characters at you now. I'm biting my tongue, and it hurts!

Duly noted. When I start watching TV again, I will definitely keep this in mind. :)

All of Bryan Fuller's shows take place in the same universe, so it will be important for understanding things like why everyone's screaming about the reappearance of Muffin Buffalo lady as well as for watching Good TV. :)

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Bryan Fuller is perfect for this, he has a kind of macabre whimsy which I think will really make this fly.

If Hannibal is not to your taste (heh!), do check out Pushing Daisies. It is delightful.

You know, I have always meant to watch Pushing Daisies and never gotten around to it. One of these days!

Bryan Fuller is my favorite showrunner of shows I don't watch (yes, that's a thing). I can't watch Hannibal because of a deeply ingrained cannibalism squick, but I've seen interviews with him and I like how he looks at story and television and fandom.

I believe American Gods is in good hands.

One of my all-time favorite books! I have to say I'm not into Haniball. Too gruesome. I liked Pushing Daisies a bunch though so...
