I miss the days when my main reading filter had more than 20 posts a day.

Funny thing you mention that. I had all_spn on my watch list before and that community is updated so frequently I actually got to press the back button on my friends page to skim more entries. Now that I removed the community I find that I like fewer updates rather than a barrage of them so I can focus on fewer things at a time.

Well, when I say "main reading filter" I'm referring to people only; I have comms on a different filter. I check the people filter a lot more often than the comm filter. :)

Oh, I see. Individual people ARE a lot less active than comms, which is a shame. :/

Haha, I'm lucky if my reading filter has 5 posts a day. Assuming I ever feel seriously fannish about SPN again, I really need to start trying to make some new friends in that fandom cause so few of the Spuffy people are active on LJ these days.

kjldhg Don't say that. Are you not fannish anymore? Has Show killed it all? Say it aint so. :(

(I can rec you some awesome SPN people, although honestly most of them aren't real active right now either.)

I...am currently having a hard time feeling any enthusiasm whatsoever for my WIP and my AUs. My default state is to daydream about my current fandom, while exercising or driving or showering, etc. (literally, any moment of the day that does not actively require my attention I will daydream; I actually wonder sometimes if this is a serious problem), and now when I think of ideas I was excited about pre-finale, I feel disgruntled at best and a mental block goes up. I do not expect that to last (I really, really hope not) as I'm certainly going to try S9, but right now I think about SPN and I just feel bitter. I might finally finish S7, though, if only to get the taste of S8 out of my mouth (not that I expect S7 to be a huge improvement, but LBR the bar is set pretty low and at least there's Meg).

(Thank you! May I take a raincheck? I always appreciate your advice.)

Oh no. I hope it does not last, too. (Did you get the link I sent you? It really went a long way towards reconciling me to the Sam-and-Dean parts of this season.)

The end of S7 is weird, but also, yes, Meg is awesome, and you get to meet Charlie. And Kevin! Three of my favorite recent people. :)

Yes, thank you so much for sending it! I'm so sorry I haven't emailed back yet. I skimmed the link while I was at work, but we had family friends visiting last night so I didn't get a chance to do anything online after work. I was just reading it now, actually, but I have to go take my brother to Star Trek, so I will email you later tonight because I really loved that link.

You mean you have, like, a life and stuff? Shame. :D

But yes, I will look forward to email. :)

You know, I'd like to make some new friends myself, but I haven't been able to find a good SPN friending meme (or community). Maybe some people can all round up and make one? Though I certainly wouldn't know how. xD

This makes me so sad! The SPN finale was that bad? And wow, do I have a diverse set of friends, because pocochina loved it!

My reading list is relatively busy - not like it was, but chugging along. They don't talk about fandom stuff much any more, though.

Hmm, IDK, my reading list has been nearly dead for about three weeks. I mean, it wasn't real active before then, but about three weeks ago it was like fandom stopped. Maybe nice weather happened?

I suppose it depends which fandom you're talking about. If it's SPN, I know nothing about it. If it's BtVS, it's been like that for ages anyway.

Well, I mean it for my entire flist, SPN and Buffy people both. (It's about an even split now.) It isn't like anything egregious happened on the SPN side of things, other than yet another clunker episode full of dead ladies, which is how it's gone all season. So it's weird.

I remember when I had to check my flist three or four times a day just to stay on top of it without having to skip back. And getting up and online in the mornings meant going back entries to catch up on what I'd missed from later night/early morning posts. *sigh* I have a lot of friends and we share a lot of things in common because I don't keep friends I don't talk to, but at the same time, we hardly ever post any more. You're one of the most active people on my flist, aside from myself. I just don't know what happened. All the new shows I love and am really into seem to have no fandom presence on LJ at all, which is both surprising and sad.

I feel a little self-conscious sometimes, because some days I really do feel like posting five times a day. But I've decided random chatter from me is probably better than nothing at all, and if 'nothing' is a person's preference then they're probably not on LJ anyway.

I am really sad for the passing of LJ, though. Tumblr's fun, but it is absolutely not sufficient as a forum for interaction with other people.

Yeah, absolutely I prefer seeing activity(even if it's something I have no comment on) over just...dead air.

That's what I really dislike about Tumbler. You can't have long back and forth discussions on tumblr in any remotely easy fashion.

Agreeing with other commenter's that it in some ways it's a benefit being able to focus more on the entries, I used to do a lot of skimming when my flist was really busy and I probably missed a few interesting entries that way, now I'm trying to take more time to comment and really focus on what people are saying. But yes it is also really sad to me that newer fandoms have practically no presence on LJ, even if a comm is set up for a show it's generally pretty dead right from the start :/ I've just got into the show Hannibal and whenever I complain about lack of fandom people point to tumblr but, other than reblogging gifs and fan art, I really can't do fandom there at all

Aw, I feel for you. Since SPN is ancient in internet terms, much of the fannish activity for it still happens here (although the majority of Dean/Castiel activity seems to be happening on Tumblr/Ao3 now). I don't know what I'd do if I were trying to get into a new fandom and there was nothing. :(

LJ used to be this one-stop shop for most things fannish, and now it just isn't.

People do write meta and stuff on Tumblr. If you stalked the Hannibal tag for a while, I expect you'd find some people doing more than reblogging pretty pictures. But then there's the question of how to engage with someone once you've found them...

I just get so confused trying to follow discussion on tumblr lol, I'll click on the start of someone's comment in hopes of reading more, and it just takes me back to their main tumblr instead and then I get completely lost :I'm old:
