Secret Avengers #3 - Spencer, Ross
I liked this a lot better than the last issue. Mockingbird arrives, we meet Daisy Johnson,Clint amuses. Much more character stuff this time.

Plot-wise, we discuss arms acquisition with a slimy politician whom we apparently like and who looks like John Ritter, and AIM shows up and steals our Iron Patriot armor in plain sight. I have no idea who the hairy person was who jumped on Daisy during the AIM attack. I don't know what "a" Jocasta is, either.

The art is mediocre. The women are bulbous in the important places, and their spandex is very shiny to make sure we can tell. Peculiarly, Clint's spandex is matte.

Anyone else reading this one? What's the verdict now that it's had a few issues? I really liked #1 but the stuff since has had more dumb plot than I like dealing with, .

Fearless Defenders #3 - Bunn, Sliney
This is getting better. Hippolyta reminds me of Sif in her bloodthirsty enthusiasm, except with a lot more posturing. I'm intrigued that Dani Moonstar is occasionally a shieldmaiden of Asgard; does she know that? It seems like the sort of thing a person ought to know. I'm also very curious to know what connection Valkyrie has to the Doom Maidens, of which she is apparently unaware. Meanwhile Annabelle is adorable and Misty Knight seems to have plenty of attitude, although she hasn't gotten much to do yet besides hit stuff.

On the down side, I'm annoyed both that there's a Maiden of Seduction - alongside such maidens as those of torture, deceit, and carrion, because a woman's sexuality is totes comparable to those things - and that she overpowers Hippolyta with pleasure. Like, what, her pink light wafts towards you and makes you orgasm? Do we even want to know what her power does? No. No we do not.

I didn't noticed any anatomy quite so egregious as last time's, although there were still a number of peculiarities. And then you have images like the following, which has: bizarre fighting stances; overly shiny costumes (again); a conversation much too long for them to have had in the time they'd have held those stances, resulting in bizarre time scale; a really unflattering costume for Valkyrie, not only for her boobs (which aren't Sliney's fault) but her hair (which is - how can those plaits look so rat-taily?); and worst of all, Misty Knight's bionic arm is the wrong arm.

Despite all that, I think I'm warming up to this title. I look forward to next month's issue on Marvel Unlimited.

Is that the one where they teleport into the empty city and start making cracks about Xena? I love that one.

I think Dani does know, it comes up later. I could never figure out why she didn't try to use it sooner, though--it seemed like it could have helped her get out of a bind. I don't really understand how it works though so maybe there's a reason.

Annabelle is pretty adorable and I love Valkyrie and her flying horse, and everyone sassing each other is great.

Yeah, it's that issue. And I am now 100% more interested in both Valkyrie and Dani, so good job, issue.

BTW, I really love the coloring on that icon. I feel like the horse's tack/armor is doing a rainbow things from right to left - blue-purple-red - and then you've got the contrast wit the seafoam green sky and Valkyrie's pretty blond hair. It's just a very attractive bunch of colors together. :)

Thank you! I didn't make it, it's by goodbyebird, who posts icons at a Dreamwidth comm called forsquares. There are some really pretty Saga icons there too. :)

Ooh, I should go look at her stuff again, now that I'm familiar with more characters. I've snagged icons from her before. :)

I'm enjoying Secret Avengers; I like Bobbi a lot, and there's been a decent amount of focus on her.

I don't know what "a" Jocasta is, either.

I'm guessing it's a robot/AI in the same class as Jocasta from Avengers Academy, but, yeah, using it as a general noun seems ... weird.

Cool, that's good to know. I am interested in seeing more of Bobbi - and the rest of the team, too, really. Right now my problem is that I about 10 times more interested in the team than in the plot. :\
