regarding Rick Remender

This is spoilery for stuff that the entire comics internet will no doubt be talking about by tomorrow.

So Rick Remender killed some more (fictional) women (although I'm confused how anyone knows this because new comics day isn't until tomorrow?), and I meanwhile keep scratching my head over the fact that Uncanny X-Force just really wasn't that bad, compared to what I've heard about what he's written since. In fact I sort of loved it a lot. And no women died in it. Granted there was only one in the book to begin with, but she's the POV character, and nope, no dying.

Has he just gotten lots worse since then, or...? Because everyone whose opinion I trust hates him for Winter Soldier and Uncanny Avengers.

He killed off Sharon Carter in Captain America and it was awful, and then in an interview he freely admitted that he did it just to create angst for Steve. :/

It's just disorienting for me to have liked one of his books so well when all his others are apparently so awful.

(Excellent icon you have there.)

Oh no, who died?

[spoilers]Rogue killed Wanda, and then something else killed Rogue.

Aww, seriously? That sucks.

Well, he also has a history of resurrecting people, often only a handful of issues after he kills them. Still.

After reading who he's killed, I can't believe they'll stay dead.

it's not misogyny, but even though I mostly liked Uncanny X Force I have a huge issue with how he wrote Daken in it. And given that Daken was a biracial and bisexual character who died to propel the narrative arc of Wolverine (and also was stupidly manipulated by another white straigh male character in Sabretooth and don't get me started in those fantasies of a missed life), I don't think he got worse, exactly. He just shifted targets.

Also the Fantomex/Psylocke thing was creepy.

Ah, I can see that. The Daken thing didn't ping for me because I'm fairly new to comics, and so wasn't aware that he was biracial or bisexual. At the time I read the comic, I was mostly annoyed that he was introduced into the book so late, apparently solely to give Wolverine some emotional relevance to the storyline and vice versa. That's a good point, though.

Honestly, even though I ended up loving UXF a lot, I did get the feeling that the things I liked were somewhat accidental - that is, the book gave me no faith that I would like anything else by Remender.
