This is not the Natasha I signed up for. I've finally gotten to the Bucky/Natasha stuff, and it's... really insipid? And has zero development? Like, they fall into bed together because ~history, and she automatically becomes supportive girlfriend character. Where's the cold, steely purpose? The emotional closed-offness? Really, where is NATASHA? She's nothing but a shoulder to cry on and occasional plot device (although a competent one, I'll grant you).

On the plus side (?), we do occasionally get physics-defying panels like this:

(LOL, that was not the feat of physics defiance you expected, was it? :D)

The lack of emotional-closed-offness didn't really bother me in this, I think because I could buy it contextually. Like, here's someone she knew intimately way back at the beginning of the bad old days, one of the few if only people with whom she could relax and trust that he'd have her back. I kind of like that they bring out the human sides in each other, because they're both hard as nails with the rest of the world.

But as I said in the other post, I came around to like this run by reading everything surrounding it first. It's kind of like Fringe for me in that way. Most of the first two seasons did not appeal to me, until that point towards the end of season 2 where suddenly everything just clicked and I was invested enough in the characters and their relationships that even the stuff that had seemed unexciting at first suddenly held a lot more meaning form me.

I dunno, I wanted Brubaker to sell it to me, and he didn't. Just from what I'd heard about these characters, I expected the ship to be... shippier? But I see what you're saying. I just wish it hadn't been so taken for granted.

It's just, I like a lot of elements, but the execution is not doing it for me.
