New books:
Black Widow #4 - Edmondson, Noto
I liked this issue slightly better than the previous issues. For one thing, we introduce an ongoing character, and for another, the stakes felt a little higher this time around. I think it's probably Molot that made the difference, though - this book is desperate for someone for Natasha to play off of, and everyone else who's made an appearance so far has been so aggressively bland.

X-Force #2 - Spurrier, Kim
Still hate the art. Did manage to read the book in one go this time, though. I remain deeply uninterested in Cable, but am intrigued by this new character Meme.

Mostly, though, I am curious about the text running across the screens on that last page - all I can catch is a sentence here and there, but it's clearly to do with Fantomex and Cluster, and I want to know where the heck Cluster has been, so it's nice that Spurrier hasn't forgotten about her. For completeness, we probably also should find out what Dark Fantomex has been up to. I suspect that they've both been reabsorbed into Fantomex proper, but I'd like to have that made explicit.

And we get Jorge Molina taking over for Kim soon. I'm not really familiar with Molina, but just about anything is better than what we've got now.

Old books:
MIND MGMT trade vol. 1 - Kindt
I got this from the library because there's a CBR columnist who likes it a lot, but it didn't do a lot for me. The art is neat, definitely not your traditional comics art - the cover gives you some idea - but the story seems to revolve around your generic Creepy Super Secret Agency, and the creep factor of this particular agency is not different or novel enough to keep me interested. Eh.

Morning Glories trade vol. 6 - Spencer, Eisma
Uh, I think I've kinda lost track of what's going on here? Time travel is going on, that's what. I wish that that handy chart of old and new characters from the back of volume 4 or 5 was included in every trade.

I keep hearing Black Widow is kind of slow. Does it have an arc yet? I remember the first issue was kind of a one-shot.

I have no idea what's happening in MG either and it's starting to be cryptic to the point of boring to me. I've been reading it as it comes out since I caught up but I am thinking about dropping it.

We have just now in #4 introduced our first recurring antagonist. So I guess that's the beginning of an arc.

'Cryptic to the point of boredom' is a good description. Plus time travel plots irritate me, almost always, and time travel seems to the primary premise that all other weirdness orbits around.

Oh, gosh, is Morning Glories already at volume 6? Eesh, I really have to get to the LCS! /0\ I'm bad about getting there regularly since Hellblazer - the last month-in, month-out title on my pull list - ended. I think I own but haven't yet read volume 3? :/

You know, you might be better off reading it all at once. I keep forgetting things in between volumes!

Ahh, I did love the ~slower style of the previous BW issues, but yeah, I agree, her having a worthy opponent ups the stakes.

I mean, I love slow if I feel like I'm getting character moments, but I haven't felt like I was in this book. Especially when Natasha wasn't interacting with any interesting friends or allies, either.

But yes, opponent good. :)
