Last day! I thought I had this day all sorted out, and then brutti_ma_buoni went all introspective with her answer. So in that spirit, I will say that Seraph will always be one of my proudest accomplishments. I tend not to think of it much anymore, because I finished it four and a half years ago (!), and when I do try to reread it I mostly see its flaws; I've grown a lot as a writer since that fic, and distance is often an unflattering vantage point anyway. Still, it's the longest fictional work I've ever written (yet) as well as being the thing that introduced me to fandom and let me meet a lot of people who are still dear friends to this day.

That said, the fic that actually came to mind when designing this meme was this one:

Long Way Home (LJ | A03) - SPN RPF - Jared/Jensen/Genevieve - 21k, rated NC-17
I wrote this all in a huge push during October/November of 2012 for spn_reversebang, inspired by a gorgeous piece of art whose spirit didn't quite make it into the final product but kept me going anyway.

In my perfect world, everyone has written a post-apocalyptic road trip fic; this is mine. Occasionally I manage to write exactly what I want in a fic, and this is one of those: isolation, survival tactics, so much cuddling, weird new relationships built on grief. It is just as much my id on display as the Jensen/Danneel cafe fic, but a different part of it. I think when I look back years from now, this will still be one of my favorite fics I've ever written.

I think that many of us like talking about our and linking to our work but are embarrassed to do so without excuse, so I am making us an excuse. Behold, the Seven Days of Self-Promotion Meme, inspired by another recent meme but with more categories, all obviously customizable as you see fit. Notice that the categories are very broad, so you can talk about your art or vids or meta or whatever if you don't write fic.

The Days:
1. Something old
2. Something new
3. Something you made for someone else
4. Something you made just for yourself
5. Something for a major fandom/pairing/character
6. Something for a minor fandom/pairing/character
7. Something you're just really proud of

And then other people can read your discussion and follow your links to your fanworks (and maybe comment on them?) and you can read their discussion and follow their links and comment on them, and it will all be lovely.

It's a wonderful fic. The apocalypse, for a start, is very real (this is why I'm not wholly sold on signing up for Apocathon, because if my recip wanted an apocalypse style that didn't work for me I'd really struggle), but the threesome is the best part. You insert a third into a twosome, which is tough to do well, and yet it works perfectly. Shaky and fragile-feeling at times, but growing despite/because of the horrors they're living amidst.

I am reply four weeks late, because this comment made me so happy that I, you know, saved it. As one does. /o\

Anyway, thank you. <3 I really, really love bringing people together in terrible circumstances, either terrible personally or for society as a whole, but it's not an itch I scratch a lot.

If it weren't for "Seraph" I doubt I would have even met you. :) And then, of course, no sooner had I, than you moved on to Supernatural. LOL Wonderful story.

Very late, I am replying! And, AWWWW. There are a lot of people that I wouldn't have met, or would have met much later, without Seraph.

But there was a good couple of years there between the end of Seraph and the end of my Buffy time! Although maybe a couple of years isn't a lot to someone of your fannish loyalty. :D

LOl "no sooner than" may have been stretching it a bit, but you know what I mean. :)

I started Seraph and so far I'm really enjoying it. I've always loved the relationship between Dawn and Spike.

And thank you for this meme. I've had the best time this past week reading and looking at art and vids and posting my own stuff. It was a fantastic idea.

Oh, yay! I'm glad you were enjoying it. This will probably amuse you, as an SPN person, that I was really nervous about posting it because it was so much weirder than most anything else I'd read in Buffy fandom! Buffy fandom was downright staid in a lot of ways compared to the big fandoms nowadays. :)

And yay, I'm glad you enjoyed the meme. I do still plan to get started on that other one, the reccing-other-people meme, any day now. /o\
