identify this image?

So, I am getting my new laptop set up, and there is this image on the corner of my screen that I can't get rid. What is the arrow in the lower right corner??

EDIT: Turns out it was my number lock key. :P

I think it might just mean your Number Lock is on (which turns the right-hand portion of the keyboard into a 10-number keypad)

If your Lenovo is like mine, the way to toggle it on and off is Function (bottom left of kb) + Scroll Lock key (which is in that topmost row of keys by the power button)

Yep, it's the num lock indicator. My new Lenovo keeps asking me if I want it to display those icons when numlock/capslock/whatever is on, so I'm guessing you have that setting turned on.

You are so smart. Yes. That did it. I actually just have a number lock button to toggle it on and off. :)

Yay, glad I could help! :) I kept accidentally turning on my Caps Lock key when I first got this computer, and that gives a similar arrow.

I think my previous Lenovo had a dedicated NumLock key too, but my current T420 does not, and it took me like 5 minutes to locate it on my kb the first time I had managed to turn it on accidentally by dropping something on my keyboard XP

Since you have a Lenovo, I will ask you: how is the scroll speed on your touchpad? I use the touchpad scroll on my old computer all the time, but on this one it's really slow - one swipe goes up about 1.5 inches of screen - and I can't figure out how to speed it up. I went to Personalize and looked under Mouse Properties, where the touchpad is listed, but I couldn't find anything about the speed of the touchpad. There's a tab to do with a mouse wheel, but it doesn't seem to correspond to the touchpad scroll.

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm not much help on this one, as I use the pointer thingy rather than the trackpad on the Lenovo (it's actually one of the reasons I prefer Lenovos to other laptops, that they still have a pointer and that it's comfortable for me rather than cramped). And actually I just use Page Up/Dn for scrolling more often than not when scrolling without an external mouse. I feel like there might be some kind of shortcut trick that emulates a scrollwheel with the trackpad -- you tap one of the buttons and swipe? But I don't remember what it is and might be making it up anyway...

A pointer, like a little joystick near the trackpad? Mine doesn't have one of those, but I'm okay with not having one. I have very strong feelings about track pads, though, so I'll have to figure out how I'm going to make due with this new computer.

Yeah, the little joystick. Hope you figure out a way to get the trackpad under control... I swiped at mine a few times, and I see exactly what you mean about it being very sluggish.
