This is an experiment, and I'm not sure how it's going to go, but we'll give it a shot. I want to basically create a timeline of all the stuff that happens to the Pens this year, on and off ice - trades, fun interviews, games and notable features, random happenings from the wider hockey world. Lots of links, generally. If I keep this up the whole year, it would be SO USEFUL for fic. (Also if I manage to keep it up, I'll probably make it public at some point.) I have not decided yet how fine-grained this should be or how much a completist I can stand to be.

However, as part of this project I NEED YOUR HELP. The goal is to make a timeline of all the news/major events for the Pens in one place for future reference. Things that count as news: games, injury reports, roster transactions, cute photos on Instagram, Sidney Crosby documentaries. Things that don't count as news: interviews and profile pieces of players, analysis, speculation (unless I feel like it).

So if you happen to notice me failing to link to any of those things and feel like dropping me a link, PLEASE DO. I'm going to be tracking stuff I want to link to on my Pinboard, but crowdsourcing this would make it so much better.

UGH HOCKEY CANON, why are you so hard. Why is reality so humongous big.

Sid gets kicked in the heel by a skate blade, which cuts up the back of his skate; is saved by Kevlar skate socks. Meesh, Seth Rorabaugh

9/29 Preseason Pens 4 - Lightning 2. The "Hockeyville" game. Lots of pregame silliness in glasses, other pregame excitement. Some media grumbling that Sid wasn't there, but it was the second in a 3-game back-to-back. Rorabaugh preview, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh.

9/30 Preseason Wings 7 - Pens 2. Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh.

10/5 - Dupuis out 4-5 weeks. :(((( Pensburgh

10/6 - Maatta "demoted" to WBS for cap reasons. Pensburgh.

10/8 GAME 1 - Stars 3, Pens 0. Lots of good looks, but Niemi was fantastic. Too many penalties. >:( Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh
- "Goal Celebrations" vid: we learn Olli cried at Pokemon, Geno is "emotional guy" who cries at sad endings.

10/10 GAME 2 - Yotes 2, Pens 1. We looked better, but Mike Smith was a wall. Phil gets his first goal. Pregame Rorabaugh, postgame Rorabaugh, Meesh

10/13 GAME 3 - Habs 3, Pens 2. Pregame Rorabaugh, postgame Rorabaugh, Meesh

10/14 Bennett doesn't practice, reported injured. Pens nation dies of shock.

10/15 GAME 4 - Pens 2, Sens 0. Sprong first NHL goal! Geno first goal in umpteen games! Scuderi, Plotnikov healthy scratches. Pregame Rorabaugh, postgame Rorabaugh, Meesh.
- Bennett now listed on IR.
- Fehr skated this morning!

10/17 GAME 5 - Pens 2, Leafs 1. Malkin GWG! Olli goal, too! Pens PP now 0-for-17 on the season. Sid still pointless. Panic, angst. Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh

10/20 GAME 6 - Pens 3, Panthers 2 (OT). After tussle with Jagr, Crosby scores a goal on the PP, breaks personal and PP scoring drought. Goals by Kessel and Malkin (GWG during 4-on-3 in OT). 3 video reviews: for disallowed Panthers goal (high stick), disallowed Pens goal (Kunitz pushed Lu into the net), offside on GWG (after game was over). Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh
- Sprong absent due to visa issues

10/21 Pens and Paws charity pet calendar shoot. Video, photo gallery.

- Fehr and Dupuis take line rushes, Bennett skates alone, Porter out due to injury from 10/20 game. Still no Sprong.
- Erixon sent to WBS (had already been waived, was still practicing in Pitt). Forward callup??

10/22 GAME 7 - Stars 4, Pens 1. Fantastic first ten mins, but no goals. Fleury not great. Eventual Bonino goal. Stars take 3 penalties in last five mins, including 5-min major from Demers elbowing Bonino in the nose. Also Porter gets boarded and goes down the tunnel. Meesh

10/23 - Line changes! Kessel with Geno, Hornqvist with Sid. via Triblive
- Bonino okay, probable for 10/24 game

10/24 GAME 8 - Pens 2, Preds 1 (OT). Fleury steals it (shots 39-25 Preds). Kuni goal off Geno coming out of the box; Phil goal in OT (after uncalled Geno trip on a Pred). Talk that Fleury was interfered with on Preds goal, but no coach's challenge. Dumoulin gets boarded and goes down tunnel; ensuing 5-min PP is HORRIBLE. Finally, finishing a PP to start the third, Johnston abandons PP units and goes to regular first and second lines, and this looks better than the real PP units. /o\ Rust blocks a shot with his hand five shifts in, isn't seen again. Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh

10/25 - We find out Bennett injured himself CELEBRATING HIS GOAL against Montreal. /o\ (x)

10/27 - Sprong staying, Rutherford says (Trib)
- Gonchar hired as a defenseman development coach (PG)

10/28 - GAME 9 - Pens 3, Caps 1. Fleury kind of steals it (shots 34-25 Caps). Goals from Bennett, Kessel, Bonino (EN). Bennett's EN attempt hits post. SUCH A BORING GAME for first two periods, then Caps score in the third, and we come back with three unanswered goals. (Composure!!1!) Overall, big win for us mentally, against strong opponent. Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh.

10/29 - GAME 10 - Pens 4, Sabres 3. Zatkoff steals it (50 SAVES, TIES FRANCHISE RECORD). Goals from Dupuis, Hornqvist (gorgeous), Lovejoy, Malkin (PP!). Pens up by 2 in the first, tied by end of first, up by 2 again, and then sit back and let Sabres take 20 shots in the 3rd. Kessel saved a goal in the crease when Zatkoff was flat on his belly. Attempted Pens empty netter rings off the post. Sabres largely injured (no EKane, Ennis, Bogosian, Lehner). Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh

10/31 - GAME 11 - Pens 4, Leafs 0. Flower shutout (on 21 shots)! Goals from Kunitz (two-inch shot after trickles through Bernier's pads), Fehr scored short-handed off Cullen assist, Cullen in 2-on-1 with Plotnikov, Hornqvist off boards rebound Bernier misplayed (assist Fleury!). Flower also got penalty => Flower hat trick. Also Hornqvist pretended to be a cat, Kessel got booed every time he touched the puck, PP failed to score on 5-min major after Scuderi got boarded by Rich Clune. Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh.
- Fehr's debut
- Toronto didn't do a tribute for Kessel. Letang was salty about it on Twitter.

11/2 - team flew to Vancouver

11/3 - Kunitz out "for maintenance day"
- Geno debuts new website. It has a bear.
- Sutter has dinner with Crosby, Kunitz, Bennett, Fleury. (x)

11/4 - GAME 12 - Pens 3, Canucks 2. Pens up 3-0, let in two towards end of third period, second one partly due to Fleury trying to get an empty netter. Goals from Perron (redirect on Dumoulin's shot; Perron's first goal in umpteen million shots), Kessel (PP goal!), Fehr (shorthanded!). Rorabaugh Postgame, Meesh

11/6 - GAME 13 - Pens 2, Oilers 1. Goals from Sprong (SUCH A PRETTY SNIPE), Kessel (PP goal!). Also a Hornqvist PP goal, but it got called back via coach's challenge for being offside. Oilers hit four posts; no McDavid, because he broke his collarbone earlier this week. Pens have won 9 of their last 10 (!!!!). Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh.
- Dupuis hospitalized "as a precaution." D: Released in time to high-five team at end of game and be given the gladiator hat. Out again in 11/7 game, will be re-evaluated in Pittsburgh.

11/7 - GAME 14 - Flames 5, Pens 2. Third game in four nights, on Pacific time. We were tired and basically terrible. The end. Meesh.

11/11 - GAME 15 - Pens 4, Habs 3 (SO). Pens win when trailing after two for the first time in 38 games! Goals for Dupuis (9 seconds in off Crosby pass, after two games out for health concerns) Maatta (he deflects gorgeous Kessel wrister off the inside of his leg), Hornqvist (off another nice Crosby feed), shootout goals from Perron (pretty backhand!), Crosby. Lots of excitement this game. Lovejoy came in like a wrecking ball and temporarily incapacitated Fleury (gets a stick through his mask and cuts him below the eye, really scary, even worse for Fleury because it turns out his dad lost an eye to a stick accident), Dale Wiese (falls on him funny, sends him limping down tunnel), Brendan Gallagher (slap shot to the foot). Zatkoff went in for Fleury and stopped three shots, and then Fleury came back out to play with the gash sort of taped up, but it immediately started bleeding and continued to do so for the rest of the period. Also Maatta caught a puck to the lip and was gone for a while. Pens game notes.

11/13 - GAME 16 - Jackets 2, Pens 1. About the Jackets, Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame

11/14 - GAME 17 - Devils 4, Pens 0. Terrible, terrible game from start to finish. Hornqvist hit in the chest with a shot, doesn't come back to the game. In Malkin's postgame presser, he comments that "we little bit mad each other," which the press takes and runs with. THE SKY IS FALLING. Upside: Maatta and Letang united; coaches say they were controlling Maatta's minutes for conditioning reasons as he got used to playing after almost a year without. On Maatta-Letang, About the devils, Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh

11/15 - Bonino, Cullen, Scuderi, Sprong, Hornqvist out with illness, according to Johnston. Geno and Sid both clarify Geno's comments. Elliot Friedman calls conspiracy (see item 22).

11/17 - GAME 18 - Pens 4, Wild 3. After his much-discussed presser two days earlier, Geno has a four-point night, including two goals. Pens score twice on the PP. Maatta gets cross-checked into the corner of the open bench door and gets taken on a stretcher to the hospital, where he's checked for internal injuries. Clendening and Plotnikov in for Scuderi and Bonino; each take a penalty, but Johnston praised Clendening in postgame. About the Wild, Rorabaugh pregame, Rorabaugh postgame, Meesh, Pens game notes

11/19 - GAME 19 - Pens 4, Avs 3. Perron scores off his butt, Geno scores a one-timer PPG, Sid scores GWG on a pretty deke through Berra's five-hole. Kunitz also scores. Three of those goals in 2+ mins during second period. Geno also saves goal off Fleury's back. Meesh, Pens game notes

11/20 - Hornqvist, Letang, Cullen take maintenance day. (x)

1/17 - GAME 42 - Pens 5, Canes 0. (Pens game notes)

7/16/15: a day we will all remember.

I love how from being basically unmentionable in public, enthusiastic cunnilingus is now the mark of a real hockey dude. It is very pleasing how masculinity morphs, no?

Also, yes this will be very helpful indeed, thank you. Would you like to do the last ten years too pls? (My rarepairs signup is currently a whole bunch of threesomes and slightly rarer pairs for Pens and Hawks, apart from some Brioux, because I'm scared of the yawning everything I don't know about all the other teams. I need timelines!)

Ahhh, I know. I thought about trying to go back and piece together the important parts of last year, and I might still do that. It would be SO useful. Already I've forgotten the timeline of a lot of events last year, the notable points of a lot of games, etc. :P
